Taught and painted professionally since 1979, retired from classroom instruction 2014; Was Wisconsin's Wildlife Artist of the Year in 1984, won the state's Inland Trout Stamp competition, numerous other awards and distinctions. Around 1991 decided it was time to paint outdoors on location, popularly referred to as "Plein Air" and has painted roughly 80% of his works outdoors since.
